(die nebel lichten sich, mistress packt die zeichensachen wieder aus. sie hat wieder bilder und sätze. hört musik. luchst ihrer wohnung freie plätzchen ab. auch wenn der herbst vielleicht schon kommt: mistress hat jetzt gute laune.)

mistress draws in the shadow
(ein wochenende, von der hitze bestimmt, von besuch, der kommt und geht, oder bleibt. fußballschauen, schattenplätze, zeit so gut verstreichen lassen.)
(a weekend, marked by the heat, and by guests, that come and leave, or stay. watching football, shadow places, time elapsing so well.

mistress stays at home
(ein tag in linz: morgens zum zug laufen, nicht wissen was auf sie zukommt. der nachmittag mit den studenten verfliegt, mistress redet viel. abends, zurück in wien, bleibt mistress erschöpft zuhause und vermisst ihre freunde.)
(a day in linz: running for the train in the morning, not knowing what the day will bring her. the afternoon with the students flew by, mistress talks a lot. in the evening, back to vienna, mistress is exhausted and stays at home, missing her friends.)

das nächste mal schleppt sie bücher lieber im trolley (obwohl eigentlich nicht so ihr stil) als in der umhängetasche am rücken.
im hostel wird ein vierbettzimmer (mit 2 stockbetten) zum einzelzimmer, wenn nur einer drin schläft.)
(it is the first time mistress stays overnight in linz, for teaching two afternoons at the university. she learned: next time, she'll take the trolley for all the books instead of the bag (even if it is not perfectly her style). in the hostel, a four-bed-room turns into a single room, it there is only one person sleeping in it.)

mistress is baking the king galette
(mistress bäckt eine “galette des rois”. die gibt es immer nur einmal im jahr, am dreikönigstag. mistress findet das rezept von ihrer mama in ihren mails und findet es schön, an manchen traditionen festzuhalten.
fülle*: 50g zucker, 50g geriebenen mandeln, 15g zerlassene butter, 1 ei (etwas ei zum bestreichen behalten), etwas rum. aus fertigem blätterteig 2 kreise ausschneiden, füllen, am rand zusammendrücken, verzieren + mit ei bestreichen. wenn vorhanden, könig oder königin drin verstecken. *alle mengen ungefähr – es soll nicht zu flüssig sein.)
(mistress is baking a "galette des rois". it is made only once a year, for Epiphany. mistress finds her mum's recipe in her mails and enjoys to hang on to this tradition. filling made from*: 50g sugar, 50g powdered almonds, 15g melted butter, 1 egg (leave a little of the egg aside for coating the galette), some rum. cut two discs from puff pastry, fill them, press the border together, decorate + cover with egg. if available, hide a king or a queen inside. *all quantities are approximate – it should not be too liquid.)
